From The Tale of the Undiscovered Island*, by José Saramago
Sailing is an act that is present in the cultural root of the Portuguese nation, something that has made it possible to get to know diverse people and "worlds", but navigating through dreams, in an imaginary universe, is also a gift that we all have in our essence. To do so, we need to free ourselves, we need to allow ourselves to dive into deep waters, transporting us to daring seas and distant lands, where we can be mermaids, pirates, kings, or... simply, whoever we want.

«On stage, the portuguese actress Adriana Melo and the brazilian dancer and puppeteer Magnum Soares come together to give life to an adaptation of the 1998 Nobel Prize winner's work, now entitled ‘The Unknown Caravel.’In this story, the concept of dreaming and imagination are present, which we relate to the chosen artistic language,’ they explain in a synopsis of the puppet show. In the performance, as in Saramago's original, the spectator is ‘invited to travel to an unknown island, along which they absorb very significant values for the human development of a child and for the construction of a conscious citizen’.»
